For a change, there are no painted miniatures today, I’ve actually had a go at painting one of my two Warhammer hills!
I’ve always thought these ‘stepped hills’ were pretty cool. They’re quite practical for games, and they’ve got that nice old-school look.
I reckon it’s a must-have on an original GW game board like the ones we know from the classic White Dwarf issues between 2007 and 2014.
I’ve also created it as a test run to prepare myself for the far greater task of tackling the original ‘Realm of Battle’ board!
More on that soon, but it was quite a slog getting the grass off the old, second-hand boards…
But now back to the Warhammer hill.
Unfortunately, the rock faces have a rather odd texture, almost like sand, which doesn’t exactly help with the realism. But I’m quite happy with it all the same, and I’ve now found some good colour schemes.
I’m also quite pleased with the vegetation! Lots of Gamers Grass tufts, and Woodland Scenics Turf, sealed with Scenic Cement afterwards. That's a real game changer by the way, I can't recommend this enough.
Please excuse the slightly odd photos, I took them with my mobile phone in the cellar, as the light was best there and I couldn’t set up a proper setup. I then quickly removed the backgrounds in Photoshop. Please bear with me, hopefully the next ones will be better!
