Ellyrian Reavers Champion

Since Sunday, I’ve been painting another unit of my army and can now proudly announce that my Ellyrian Reavers are finished!
Today I’m starting by showing you the unit’s champion, as I’ve been trying out a new lighting setup for my commercial photos for Piano Wargames and needed a test figure. Very handy!

I’ll admit it, these High Elves really get on your nerves… I love the sculpts so much, but the effort involved in painting them is just mad. And yes, I am repeating myself.
All those tiny green-and-white patterns, the countless gemstones and little details… The worst bit, actually, was that there were lots of places you couldn’t really get to. I think the left half of his face (as seen from his perspective) turned out relatively well, whereas the right half didn’t really.

But on the whole I’m satisfied, and I’m really relieved that the unit is now fully painted. I’d had them sitting in the display case for a few months now with just a basecoat on, so it’s a great feeling to have them finished and ready for battle.
But then again, so much work for a unit that’s worth just over 100 points!

Next I will show you the full unit (if I can figure out how to photograph them properly, Warhammer figures are so huge!) and after that there will probably be a work in progress of the Great Eagle that's coming next.

And after that I hope I can present you the first piece of the Realm of Battle board and the very first group picture of the army! With the eagle done it's exactly 1400 points strong.

See you soon!
